Buddies Buttboarding Bash
October 13, 2002

Darren Lott organized another Butt Board Bash at Twin Pines road. Twin Pines road is just south of Banning, CA as seen here.

This sign always makes me feel welcome.

Chris Beard and Richard Hodkinson both 1st time riders on the hill. Oh yeah, Wonderview has a new sign.

Kent Kochheiser was there capturing the action. If the photos come out, look for a new series on his site.

Dave brought his new butt board. The only one he could find that complies with the new rules. Oh wait, the wheels are too big. Back the drawing board.

Darren came up with a slew of new games. This is what's left of "Grab your Balls". Participants needed to cross the finish line touching one of 4 rubber balls. Chris thought he would be cute and deflate his and hide it in his leathers. D'Qued! Silly Brit.

Pat took 3rd place overall by being one point in front of me. Let's see if Pat can live with the guilt of cheating on Kryptonic 76mm race cores. I know I couldn't.

The relay was won by John, Mica (sp) and Jason Gue. By a lot I hear.

Believe it or not I'm probably more proud of this ribbon than many of the awards I've received.

It has to do with the competition and their hill. Dave, his brother John, Pat Moody & Darren, all kick ass on Twin Pines and to get a single podium among them is a real challenge.

Anyway, Darren had his thinking cap on for this game called I Spy. The field was split in two: Spy's and Contacts. The Spy's raced to 1/2 way with the Contacts close behind. At half way, the Spy's and Contacts had to match "popular" sayings, each having half the saying. Example: Spy has "The rain in Spain" and the Contact has "Falls mainly on the plain". They need to then race to the finish as a team, the last of the team establishing the finish place of the team.

Oh, did I mention the double agents (I told you Darren was thinking). Two of the racers (either Contacts or Spy's) were double agents and tried to fool either Spy's or Contacts into thinking they were the other half of their saying.

Needless to say it was complete mayhem at the 1/2 way point.

I had "Run run as fast as you can" and Earl Ross had "You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man".

3rd place!

Dave was the overall winner. I don't think he even tries any more.

After the Bash we moved on to the infamous dump road.

I've been on a POV kick this year. That's Jason Gue.

Paul Busse came down to pick up his new Rogers Brothers Board. I think he liked it!

More of Jason Gue. A little faster this time (around 65 mph).
