1997 X Games

In 1997 and 1998, 10 riders (top 5 Rail and top 5 EDI) were invited to participate in the X-Games without having to race in the open qualifying race.  I was lucky enough to get a "Golden Ticket" in both 1997 and 1998.

This is the really cool medal ESPN gives to all X Games competitors.
Me and Lee Dansie.  The photo was used to describe the sport of Street Luge to 1998 X Games fans.  It was on page 42-43 inside a spectator pamphlet.

A speed shot of me passing one of many camera men.

I cross the line ahead of Oli Totschnig in an early 2 man heat.

Bob Ozman has been riding since the late 70's.  Currently the Glendora Mountain Road king.  He's unbeatable.

Lee Dansie and I in a practice run. I received a nice (although un-intended) complement from Lee when he complained about having to race me in the 1st round of the 2-man (I qualified 9th and he qualified 8th).

My friend Kent Kochheiser took most of the X-Games photos on this site.  He has his own web site with lots of Street Luge photos.

I usually had good speed out of the last turn in the short shoot.  It helped me win the consolation race and ultimately finish 7th in the 6-man race.
